Nestled in a quiet neighbourhood popular among expat families, it provides an ideal setting for students to reach their full potential and cultivate an international mindset. With the Sintra Hills and stunning beaches only minutes away, boarders can enjoy an enriching outdoor lifestyle throughout the week and weekends. 

Cascais offers convenient access to Portugal’s main international airport and a private jet terminal. Once a royal retreat, it is renowned for its exceptional quality of life, natural beauty, and rich cultural heritage. This charming town also hosts world-class international sporting events, including the Ocean Race (sailing), the Estoril Open (tennis), the Cascais Padel Master, and the Billabong Pro Cascais (surfing), adding excitement to our students’ boarding experience.

Boarding Options Adapted to Your Needs

Our international boarding school in Cascais is dedicated to providing a convenient and fulfilling experience for all students and their families. We offer flexible boarding options to meet different preferences and needs.

Full Boarding is designed primarily for international students, who will stay in the boarding house throughout the school year. Full-time boarders go home during school holidays. This option includes a rich and varied weekend activity programme.

Weekly Boarding is ideal for national and international students living locally but with busy weekly schedules. This option suits families with long commutes, allowing students more time for studying, participating in extracurriculars, and socialising with peers during the week while enabling them to spend weekends at home. Weekly boarders join the boarding house on Monday and return home on Friday afternoons, with the option to participate in weekend activities if they wish.

Meet Our Head of Boarding & Enrichment

Graham Malkin

Graham joins us from Vienna, where he was working in a prominent international school as the Head of Boarding. He believes boarding offers an unrivalled opportunity for young people to achieve their full potential given the right support, encouragement, and challenge. 

Graham spent a large part of his educational career in Dubai, where he was the Director of Boarding and Outdoor Education for the Repton group of schools, as well as the founder of Ecoventure, an outdoor education company based in the UAE. During the past twenty years, Graham has worked in educational establishments in Canada, the UK, Qatar, the UAE, and Austria in a range of roles including health and safety, teaching, outdoor education, and boarding. 

As a keen outdoorsman, he spends his spare time hiking, kitesurfing, skiing, and kayaking. He is a qualified mountain leader, kayak coach and windsurfing instructor. 

Graham will be joined at King’s College School, Cascais with his wife Davinia, two sons, aged nine and six, and their daughter aged three. The family are very much looking forward to the move and being an active part of the boarding house at the school.

Boarders can also take full advantage of our premium school campus after classes and during the weekend, including an indoor sports hall (1,250 sqm), a 25m indoor swimming pool, tennis, padel, and basketball courts, rugby and football pitches, two interior gyms, a performing arts auditorium (363 seats), two drama rooms, seven music practice rooms, and state-of-the-art science labs.
